Favorite Hallmark Christmas Movies

It is HERE, my friends! I have been asked by some of you many times over the last few years to create a list of my all-time favorite Hallmark Christmas movies and I’ve finally done it! Make sure you DVR these, look them up on your Hallmark Movies Now App (I have it through Amazon and it has some good ones!), or watch them however you can get your hot little hands on ‘em before Christmas! I know most people make fun of Hallmark movies, and I know, many of them offer their fair share of cheesiness! But, there are some genuinely great ones and these are my picks!! As a hard-Enneagram-Four (with a bit of wing three… but mostly, I’m made of “Four”) I am so “in” the feels of everything in life; the emotion, thoughts, ideas, memories, hurts, joys, pain, the..….”the depths”, that it is healthy for me to take time to just focus on the fun, the silly, the light, the happy, the positive. Enter, Hallmark Movies! In my thirty-three years of life, I’ve learned this about my self. (On my list of ultimate, when push-comes-to-shove dearest to my heart films? “Stepmom”, “P.S. I Love You”, The Lake House”, “A River Runs Through It”, “Steel Magnolias”, “A Walk to Remember”, “Nights in Rodanthe”, “The Notebook”… you get the jist! The ugly-cry movies.) So, swimming in the depths of “the feels” of the time, I need some happy fluffy fun on the regular, and this is where my love for falling asleep to a light Hallmark Movie was birthed ;) I just love them and they help me focus on the good. (Although, this girl loves The Depths the very best.)

Enjoy!!!

(Note: these are sort of in order. Not necessarily in perfect order? I really do enjoy and love them all! And, I probably left one or two out, so there may be a revised version next year. ALSO! I’ve added on my two favorites so far from this year — 2019.)

  • A Boyfriend For Christmas: Released in 2004, this is the very first Hallmark Christmas movie I ever saw. Just fifteen years old, I fell in love with the whole Hallmark movie" “thing” and this movie became an instant and all-time top-favorite. The story is about a gal named Holly (no surprise) who asked Santa for a prince charming for Christmas… twenty years later, he delivers a hot guy on her doorstep and the rest is history!

  • Let It Snow: I watch this one every single year. It’s just all-around warm and fuzzy, complete with a cozy and snowy Christmas lodge, the cutest couple who are very much akin to Santa and Mrs. Claus, a single eligible bachelor and a girl who needs a reminder of the heart of Christmas and all that truly matters!

  • A Christmas Detour: This one features my two favorite Hallmark stars of all — Candace Cameron Bure and Paul Greene! I’ve met them both in person (#HallmarkStalker) — Candace is just the bubbliest and Paul was so kind. Add in a meet-cute, a snowstorm, a diverted flight, and some chemistry, and you can imagine the romance that sparks!

  • Matchmaker Santa: Such a fun one! I love Lacey Chabert (I also got to meet her last year. The sweetest ever!) In this movie, she’s stranded in the cutest small Christmasy town in all the world and meets her man…. aaaaand, Santa.

  • Christmas With Holly: An actual tear jerker. A sweet little girl, grieving the death of her mama, is raised by her three uncles. Lots of heartwarming Christmas magic!

  • Crown For Christmas: Gotta love a royal christmas movie! Danica McKeller stars in this one (Daniel met her, if you recall, on a flight once and I just about died!) Thanks to a twist of fate, a kind-hearted maid ends up nannying for a fancy family in Europe…. meets the prince…. and I am sure you cannot even imagine what happens next. ;)

  • The Most Wonderful Time of the Year: Another oldie but goodie! Daniel’s family has always loved and watched this one and they showed it to me! It’s super cute and classic.

  • Christmas Under Wraps: Another Candance-Hallmark winner! She plays a doctor who ends up working at a clinic in Alaska, meets a local charmer, and falls in looooove.

  • Journey Back To Christmas: An interesting and lovely time-travel/period piece! A World War II nurse is transported to the 2000’s, meets her soulmate, and finds the meaning of Christmas.

  • A Royal Christmas: It’s no secret that I’m allll about the royalty movies :) A common gal meets a prince and must overcome their family/cultural differences.

  • The Christmas Card: A truly inspirational and heartwarming wartime movie. A Christmas card sparks a once in a lifetime romance!

  • A Princess For Christmas: A fabulous European castle, a handsome prince, and a everyday girl who ends up becoming a princess! A fun one to enjoy.

  • When Calls the Heart Christmas: There are a few of these in the seasons and I always love them. Can’t beat this show and the fabulous characters! I can’t wait for this year’s.

  • A Very Merry Mix Up: I actually love this movie. It’s heart wrenching (in a sense), relatable, sweet, sad, and engaging. I watch it almost every year and always hang on ‘til the very end, almost on the edge of my seat. It’s a good one and it surprises you!

  • Engaging Father Christmas: This is adapted from a book by Robin Jones Gunn and I love this series! All about old family secrets, romance, acceptance, family. I also love the cast!

  • A Gift To Remember: A two-parter! I enjoy this story, truly! It’s kind of a different twist on “While You Were Sleeping”? A couple meets when she runs into him, he ends up with a concussion and a case of amnesia, and she helps him figure out who he is…. all while they fall in love.

  • Christmas Town: A 2019 Premiere! It’s really good, guys….. Another Candace winner! And, oddly, the guy who plays Mutt in Schitt’s Creek. Before I watched it, I honestly thought it would be a miss? But it was a hit, yall. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I watched it! It hits your sentimental heart in all the right places, and is just really great.

  • Two Turtle Doves: Another 2019 Premiere! I like both of these actors (the Greek guy from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is in it!! Right?! Kind of a mind bender? But he is perfect in this role!) A grieving single dad widow meets a lonely and also grieving (the death of her dear grandma) young woman and they fall into friendship and romance.

* Special thanks to my Hallmark-loving friend, Ally, for her input on this list!
